Damian is a shape-shifter. A sorceress, before he was born, had given him the gift (curse, Damian would argue sometimes). For a long time, the gift wasn't much.

It was teeth that looked too sharp, eyes a shade too dark, skin just a shade lighter than it had been the previous day - they only truly found out about the gift when Damian woke one day with female parts, rather than the male part he had been born with.

He trained, learned about his powers, and honed his natural ability.

Deathstroke attacked and Damian met Bruce Wayne and his various wards. He never told any of them about his shifting, unsure of how his... family would react to his ability

And then came the mission that ruined all of that.
