"It'll only hurt for a second, and then it'll feel amazing," he whispered, lips brushing against my ear. Sharply inhaling, I gazed into his eyes, searching for comfort. For the promise that I didn't have to do this. It never came. He sighed, sensing my hesitation. "I'll make it good for you, Maeve. I promise." Shaking, slightly terrified of the next few hours, I gave a quick, tiny nod. He smirked. "Well, then." He smashed his mouth against mine. ----- Thousands of years ago, men took over the world. They became "Master's" of women, where one man would rule a household of twenty women and however many children those women birthed for him. Living as slaves, those women served the Master in any way he wanted: in food, in laundry, in cleaning, in children, in sex. Women lost all their rights and opinions when the Auction began. The Auction served as a way to trade and sell slaves, where men as young as sixteen and women as young as fourteen would attend. The men would buy and sell their slaves, while the women lived as the slaves that were bought and sold. Maeve was a sixteen year old woman, and her father decided that it was time for her to attend the Auction, where she would be bought by another man who she would live with and serve for the rest of her life. That is, unless she escaped.

"Going once, going twice, SOLD!" The gavel fell with a loud bang onto the auctioneers table. Kelly stepped forward, watching as the eager man rushed forward, money in hand, dropping it on the table before he grabbed her. He could hardly wait to get her home before he started tearing her clothes off. The thing that followed was the pain. The suffering. The anxiety. It was sometimes too much for Kelly to bear, being beaten if she made a mistake, being starved if she talked back, and being raped nearly every night. It was all against her will and she fought to make it not happen, but it always happened. She couldn't stop it from happening, but maybe she could prevent it from ever happening again. She wasn't afraid of death. Anything would be better than the pain. ANYTHING. Entering this in the #wattys2016 but I don't expect to even get an honorable mention (lol)
