"Being on the road-" He started. Ruby had forgotten she had even asked him the question. "You know, Metallica is my family, but sometimes it gets lonely. Sometimes I need more, like, intimacy. Ya know?"

His grip tightened a little and Ruby felt her legs part, ever so slightly, to welcome a better hold on her. To tell him to go on.

"I-I get what you mean-" She muttered hotly under her breath.

"Do you?" Kirk challenged and cocked his head to the side.

Ruby leaned forward, their faces were close enough together but apart enough to not become unprofessional, though Ruby guessed they had already crossed that line. Mentally, she cursed herself for it. She had told herself that she wouldn't take nonsense from Kirk, yet here she was telepathically begging him to go on, daring him to do more. It was like he had a supernatural hold on her or something.

"And-" She breathed out, totally going off script. There was a sultry, tempting song in her tone. It challenged him in a way and he felt completely fallen by her. "Are you currently seeing anyone, Mr. Hammett? "

Kirk grinned and Ruby felt his hand slide up, threatening to go further than the hem line of her little skirt. She could feel heat pooling at her panties.

He searched her round face, the glossy pout of her lips, the subtle smokey shadow around her green eyes and the way her button nose scrunched up when she smiled nervously. The, barely there, scent of her floral perfume filled his nose. Kirk could tell she didn't give into men like this often and he felt honored over the little connection they were sharing now.

"Not yet." He was being so forward, anyone within a mile radius would catch on by now. "But I have a feeling I will be soon..."

It seemed to unfase him as he threw me, closed the door, and looked hard at me. I sank down at his glare. "Go, Andrew," the strange man called out. After a while, his anger seemed to dial down, and he then sighed, running his hand through his brown hair.

[!!CW!! abuse of drugs and alcohol, graphic depiction of violence and gore] "'Please,' he breathed shakily. I looked into his other hand and he was holding his pistol. One, identical to mine only that it was engraved with his signature. I shook my head frantically, more sounds exiting my mouth. 'No... no. No!' I whined as he held out the gun with all his strength. I couldn't. I wouldn't! 'Please, don't make me do this,' I continued whining, refusing to take the pistol from his hand. 'Please,' he just breathed again and I finally took the heavy metal into the hand that wasn't holding onto his other. It was already loaded. I heard the mechanisms click as I placed the barrel a few inches away from the space between his eyes. He closed his eyes, squeezing my hand tighter which was getting very sweaty. 'At least I'll say hi to mom and dad,' he laughed, spitting blood in the process. Before I could break down completely, I pulled the trigger, the deafening shot making my ears ring. I closed my eyes and looked away, only feeling his hand twitch open for a second and then falling onto his lifeless stomach. I gave out a painful moan. 'I love you, my treasure...'" When a 14-day dating challenge erupts between skeptical Blossom and her secretly smitten best friend Hunter in the waning days of 1999, their easy friendship is plunged into a maelstrom of teenage angst, unrequited affection, and the terrifying possibility of genuine love. __________________________________________ The year is 1999. Grunge is fading, pop is taking over the airwaves, and the looming Y2K bug casts a faint, paranoid shadow. Blossom, a cynical, introspective teenager with a sharp wit and an even sharper skepticism about the existence of love, finds herself entangled in a bizarre challenge. Her best friend, Hunter - all easy charm and perpetually tousled hair - has proposed a "14-Day Bet Date." He claims it's a social experiment, a way to prove to Blossom that love isn't just a fairy tale. He insists they go on carefully orchestrated dates, engaging in classic romantic tropes - eating out at the local diner, trips to the rollerskating rink, picnics under the stars, the whole shebang. But what Blossom doesn't know is that Hunter's intentions run much deeper than scientific curiosity. He's secretly, desperately in love with her, and this elaborate charade is his clumsy, teenage attempt to finally convince her of it - and hopefully, to convince her to love him back. __________________________________________ ---Book 1 of the Generations series--- ATTENTION! She felt like Cinderella, unconsciously listening to an imaginary clock tick with each passing second. Time was of the essence, but she was completely out. She had enough. Justine raised from her seat and faced him, glaring daggers into his fearful irises as she raised her powerful voice. "I didn't think you were that foolish, Dax. You should be out, trying to live again, trying to find why you were given a second chance! Most people don't even get a single one to begin with!" He got up as well, countering her radiance with his. She continued to speak, her breath coming out as cold vapor in the frigid night. "You're wasting it!" she screamed. "You're selfish! Don't you care how it'll affect others? Those who love you?" "Everyone already thinks I'm dead!" Dax butted in, but she didn't let him stop her with a puny excuse. "What about me, huh? Don't you care about how I feel? You're my best friend! And the first time I lost you was hard enough. This time, it's different. There's new feelings that I've recently sorted out," her voice grew increasingly indecisive and conflicted as she spoke on, her eyes wavering. Then she looked at him with such devotion; her robust glare penetrated his soul. "You should be roaming the world, searching for the one thing that could save you! Death is permanent. You should be out finding that purpose, Dax, not here like an idiot staring at some silly girl who thinks a ghost may love her back!" Tears drenched her face, her eyes puffy and red, but mighty and high. He stepped closer, his flickering form barely touching her very real, live one. They bore into each other's eyes, feeding off the other's presence. Still, he refused to open his mouth and respond. "You should be finding that one thing that makes you happy," she whispered, now unable to peer up into his glowing black eyes. He bent down, his mouth just a centimeter away from her ear as he breathed, "What if I've already found it?"

-- PROLOGUE "Let me get this straight. We have nothing in between us, except for the deal we made that day" he spoke in a monotonous tone. "I am the one carrying your name behind me; we are married. how can you say we have nothing in between us? Huh" She yelled at him, tears blurred her vision, and she spoke her heart to him. "For god's sake, this marriage was to save you! Can't you get that? I did not do it willingly, I do not love you!!" He yelled back at her, shattering her heart into pieces. "Why can't you just love me?" She spoke, as she cried the tears of hurt, and pain. Her heart thumped loudly due to the shivering sensation She felt all over her body. "I never made a commitment to you, or gave you any false hope, neither did i say that i love you. Did i?" He asked her, in a very cold tone. She looked at him through her teary eyes. It's getting difficult for her to even breathe. "It was your eyes, the damn eyes. Who gave me the false hope. They say, "Eyes speak the truth," but what about mine? Couldn't you feel the sincerity within them, expressing my deep affection for you? Why didn't you see the love shining in them? Was it too complex to understand? Couldn't you notice the warmth as they gazed at you? They search for you in every corner, If only you realized how they silently echoed the emotions I couldn't articulate. They say, "Eyes never deceive." But what about yours? They played a trick on me when they met mine, painting a facade of a world that wasn't real. They made me feel loved, Leading me into a belief that crumbled, louder than your spoken promises. Why did they betray me? Was it your eyes or you that masked the truth?" He stayed still, not moving or saying anything at her statement. --
