Axel Aletris Ketchum thought it was a dream come true when he was invited to be Professor Sycamore's assistant. It was everything that he could have dreamt of having: Collecting data when travelling, making friends, exploring the world... Only that it didn't last. 

With both Team Alpha and Omega entering their final preparation stage, Axel is identified as the greatest obstacle to their plans and has a target pinned to his back. At the same time, Axel succumbs to the haunting memories of both his failures and his past. Reaching the breaking point, he grows desperate to resolve things his way, finally making the decision to leave everything behind and go solo. 

The Day of Awakening draws near. Faced by trifold threats, the research team is in shambles. Will the prophesied destruction befall the Kalos Region, or will a hero step up to seal the darkness? The race against time enters its final phase... in the worst condition possible.
