Unorthodox Boy

This is kind of like a "Pilot" premiere episode of a new TV show, but instead, it is a book (the first chapter being the "Pilot" chapter) and I just want to see how people respond to it. I wrote this during my freshman year of high school, but recently, I have drastically changed the prose to my current level of complexity. This is the first piece of my writing that I am posting here, and it is simply an experiment of mine, so don't hate too much. But I could definitely use some feedback, like constructive criticism; it would be much appreciated.

Anyway, let's get to the point. This story (or beginning of a potential one; I have not worked out the rest of it yet) is supposedly about a boy who is thrust into a world of supernatural wonders, like demons and fairies, but where I lack an elaborate outline, I make up for in improvisation, and where there, along with a little passion, is improvisation, there is fluidity. Almost like the plot of this story. But after being attacked by a wicked beast while he was on his way home from school, someone mysteriously swoops in to save him. Is it his knight in shining armor? No, it is something that makes encountering the demon seem like child's play.

Collen had no idea such things even existed, so why was he attacked and why does it seem as though two (or more) forces are racing to see who can get him first?
