A life of social awkwardness, an addiction to online gaming, and a sudden realization that my life was boring, led me to a 6-month journey backpacking across southeast Asia. Watch me plunge myself into awkward situations, meet amazing new people, and fill my stomach with some of the best cuisine this world has to offer. As I travel outside of England for the first time, I visit the eastern border around Laos, Vietnam, and Cambodia all the way south to Indonesia and the Philippines. Mayas flight to London got delayed for 24 hours. stuck at the airport in Germany and With most of the hotels booked her only option was to either stay at the airport and get some sleep on those hard plastic chairs. So, instead of being stuck at the airport knowing she's going to miss her cousins wedding. Maya decided to get to the train station. With no destination in mind. As she tries to figure out how the train tickets system works, a young man approaches her. While two make conversation the train arrives. passengers got on and off the train, and the young man walked backwards towards the doors of the train. "So, let's make some memories." He suggested, holding out his hand for her to take. Will Maya take the leap of faith and trust a complete stranger she just met or will she return to the airport and spend the next 24 hours on the hard plastic chairs while waiting for her flight ?

Traveling opens yourself up to the world. You realize that there is so much out there, so much you want to discover and so much that you will never know. After spending a year teaching in Thailand, I longed to travel with only my quirky self to keep me company. My journey started in Myanmar where temple cycles and village treks exposed me to the past and present of this intriguing nation. I returned to Northern Thailand for a volunteer experience and some of the most ingenious and adrenaline-pumping New Year's celebrations. Indonesia's smiling faces warmed my heart and even coaxed me out on a date or two.
