"What happened Mesh'la?" I ask softly. She takes a deep breath, staring at a distant wall. 

Her eyes water, and I know she is fighting tears. "It just can't Rex. There doesn't need to be a better reason than it being forbidden."

I feel my heart slowly shattering, "That doesn't matter to me." Desperately trying to change her mind.
