She was able to live alone at the age of 8 after Tonks and Lupin got married, both decided to not allow Y/n to Hogwarts for the last 2 years because they thought it was too dangerous. But Y/n knows she was supposed to go so she decided to go where the rest of the Black family went... at the beginning, to a school where everyone learned everything.
