A story about the Australian 2020 Megafires. Envisioned through a male character, the reader witnesses and understands the true fears that Australian's felt during this time; just how merciless these flames were; and the masculine pressures to appear brave and placid. On a more personal note, this short story is a reflection of climate anxiety, and how I fear for this summer, next summer, and the summers to come. As this is a nation-wide experience, I feel silly expressing distress when others had it worse. This is that story.
A million dollar bounty, underground assassins, torture-it's all in a days work for assassin Jessie Wright.
* * * * * *
Molded into an assassin by the one who killed her parents, Jessie defies orders and goes rogue. Now with a bounty on her head, her only chance of survival may be with a man who's reputation is worse than her own.
Violence, Assault, Swearing.
