Her job specializes in having 'ninja' skills, impossibly awesome memory, extremely quick thinking, and hard boiled wit. By the way, 'You', the reader, get to watch her, in all her glory, to see all of the awesome tricks up her sleeve.

Her mother was always stressed between being a single mom and dealing with her sister. So the girl used her studies and books as an escape method from the real world.
