A Fire of Light and Dark

When Samantha Firth was nine years old an infection struck her planet, but that isn't even the worst part. Creatures of darkness, who are blind, yet have sharp hearing. They can disappear without a trace in a matter of seconds and reappear a few feet away, known as Shadows. The survivors, mostly children, are being kept in camps, due to the infection that gave them supernatural abilities that they'd only read about in books.

Samantha is no exception, although from day one, she has been taught to always remain silent, so the creatures don't hear her, no matter what. Her best friend, Vida, has other plans and is planning their escape unbeknownst to her. The camp has been Samantha's home for the past seven years, it's been her safe place.

But the Shadows are watching. They always are. They always know...
