On the continent of Qanoras most magical organisations jealously guard their secrets in order to maintain their influence. This means that those who wish to command magic of their own often only have one choice: Warlockry. The practice of contacting a powerful entity, and bargaining with them for power. Now that the impressive feats of some of these Warlocks are coming to light, more and more people are willing to take the risk. In the country of Getemen, party leader Annemiek Smalbrugge is trying to put together a comprehensive set of laws to govern this growing phenomenon. To that end, she has requested the help of an expert in the field: A contract-lawyer named Jurian Cornelissen. In letters between the two, Jurian recounts the stories of how he came into contact with various Warlocks, and over time figured out the interplanar laws that govern their contracts. This is a collection of mostly self-contained short stories. I plan to write one each month, either in this series or another. Synopsis Phoenix was forced by his grandfather to marry his supposedly childhood sweetheart in order for him to get his inheritance. He badly wants his inheritance but he doesn't want to get tide up to anyone as he is enjoying his bachelorhood. Another reason is: he never wanted to get married to his clingy childhood supposedly sweetheart, Jewel Pierce, who proposed him marriage when they were still innocent little kids. But when he meets her again, he came face to face with a mature woman who doesn't want to have anything to do with him and strongly opposed his grandfather's proposal which confused him. He thought that she was head over heels inlove with him. However, instead of completely rejecting the proposal, she told him that they will enter a contract of agreement of staying married for only six months. Of course, no strings attached. Just to help him get his inheritance. But in those six months of being together, he slowly learned that there is more to Jewel than meets the eye. And he is starting to feel something that he shouldn't feel for a woman whom he tried to avoid all of his life. ********* "Why the hell are you extending the contract?! The deal is only six months Phoenix! Six months?!" Jewel screamed at the top of her lungs under the freezing heavy rain. "Because I don't us to be temporary! I wanted us to be permanent! I want you to be mine for life!" He screamed back, not minding the painful drops of the rain and shivering cold.
