Leo Valdez was a normal 23 year old student majoring in Engineering when his landlord decided he needed to pay up the rent for the year and boy, he's broke. COMPLETED I was caught in the net, with no hope of escape. As the net broke the surface, four men shouted in alarm. One called for someone to come up from below deck. He opened the door and studied me. I hissed at him as he approached the edge of the boat. "Let me go, human." He chuckled. "Not a chance, fish. You're my new science project." ~~~~~ Douglass finds himself in a risky situation when he's caught up in a net while swimming back to his cave. He tries to get lose, but only manages to get himself bound tighter in the ropes. Captured by human scientists, kept in a tank on land. Far from his home, scared and alone. Nathaniel works at the marine research center for his uncle. When he finds the siren in a tank far too small to contain a wild creature, he knows that the merman isn't happy there. He's trying to figure out a way to free him. Little does he know, he's not exactly human, and his uncle is hiding a big secret that might change his life. What happens when they realize that they're uncovering something much bigger? ~~~~~ Contains foul language, some disturbing scenes ( experiments on the siren, violent deaths), mild violence, and a brief implication of suicide in one chapter. One night, a young man wakes up in an empty room. He looks around, but he doesn't recognize his surroundings. Where is he? Why is he here? Who is he? Why couldn't he remember anything? Then he hears the squeaking sound of an old wooden door. He sees a figure. It is a beautiful young woman. She smiles, "You're finally awake. Do you remember anything?" The young man shook his head, but the questions have been burning on his tongue. He couldn't resist it, so he asks, "Who am I?" She gracefully and silently walks toward him, "You're Micah, my child." Since that day, Micah slowly learned how to live in the darkness with his "siblings" and his "mother". They couldn't go outside and she provided everything they needed. But one day, she disappeared, leaving them all alone. Starved and afraid, they broke the rules and went outside. It is the same day that they learned what they really are. They call them Vampires. Nico has lived with that term all his life. Psychopath. He knew it was muttered behind his back when he walked through school. Thats how the world saw him. The boy who hears voices, the guy who talks to himself. Everyone defined him by his mental illness, and no one had ever bothered to know him. The word wasn't even accurate. Having schizophrenia was a pain sometimes, but it didn't mean Nico was crazy, even if the voices told him he was. The real ones, and the ones in his mind. The only person he could ever consider a friend would be his psychologist (aka his therapist), Jenny, who he had grown a strong connection with over the 4 years he had been going to see her. He didn't trust anyone else. Nico knew that no one would look past it all like she does. That is, until Will Solace enters the picture, the happy go lucky college student striving to be a therapist. What could go wrong? . This is a solangelo fan fiction and will have swearing, mental illnesses and there may be triggering moments that will have warnings. I will hopefully capture Nico's point of view accurately, and what he his going through, but I have never experienced schizophrenia so it may not be perfect. . Kinda going through editing?
