Shards of Broken Glass

Marilyn Mayfeild betrayed herself, friends and country. She lies to herself and loathes herself because she desperately wants to forget everything and everyone. She tries to accept her execution, but she can't even enjoy that in peace. She's offered to be reinstated to the war hero she once was. However, she must face the fact she's broken.

"I once was pretty, like a pane of glass reflecting light on the world around it. My mind was so clear that people could see through it and understand me. What happens when glass breaks? Well, it becomes a hazard, sharp and cutting. I thought if I'd ignore the fact that I'm broken I'd be grounded into sand. Soft and bright. I was wrong."
