Morioka Hirotsugu is a warrior monk. Well, was. After being framed for a crime, he didn't commit, he was arrested and placed on death row by the Tokugawa Shogunate.
Luckily for him, instead of having his head chopped off by some executioner, he was given an option.
Go to a mysterious island and retrieve something called "The Elixir of Life," which is said to grant immortality. If he brings it back to the 11th Shogun, Tokugawa Nariyoshi, he'll get an official pardon of all his crimes and be a free man.
