In a dystopian future ruled by a corporate oligarchy, society lives under constant surveillance through smart devices controlled by The Algorhym, a powerful AI that monitors and manipulates every aspect of daily life. Joe Carpenter, a weary factory worker, tries to keep his fractured family safe while navigating the oppressive regime. His 17-year-old daughter, Maya, is defiant, openly criticizing the government, while his 15-year-old son, Elliot, begins to buy into its propaganda. When Maya's rebellious nature leads to her arrest, Joe is thrust into the underground rebellion. With the help of Lena, a determined rebel leader, Joe rescues Maya from the regime's clutches. However, their actions draw the regime's ire, forcing them into hiding. Elliot, consumed by fear and loyalty to the regime, betrays his family, only to realize too late the devastating consequences of his actions. As the family fractures, Joe and Maya become deeply involved in the rebellion, targeting key regime infrastructure in an effort to destabilize the government's control. Their most ambitious strike-the destruction of the AtlasCorp Tower, which houses the central servers of The Algorhym-cripples the regime's surveillance but comes at a great cost, including the loss of Lena and a brutal crackdown on the district. Haunted by guilt, Elliot seeks redemption by secretly feeding the rebellion critical intelligence. Though the family begins to reconcile, the cyclical nature of power and oppression becomes evident. Even as the rebellion gains ground, Joe sees new leaders rising, mirroring the same corruption and control they fought to overthrow.

"Any thought you ever had; memories, desires, your fears and your dreams, are all recorded and stored safely in the Quantum Cloud for your eventual revival. Death is now merely a transitional period to the next stage of your existence. As a QUBIT (quantum processing biosynthetic), you will experience a life free of disease and suffering. Time is no longer your enemy. Regret is a thing of the past. Each new day brings the promise of endless possibilities, spent in the pursuit of your own happiness, guiltless with the knowledge that there are no longer earthly constraints to inhibit you. This is the life you have always wanted. Welcome to your new beginning..." Akropolis is a city at the end of times, a sanctuary where the brightest and best have been housed since the last Great War. A genome defect has afflicted the majority of the population and scientists are desperate to find a cure. In the meantime, man has found his own salvation in the form of the QUBIT (quantum processing bio-synthetic), an android that is capable of prolonging life almost indefinitely, and yet what makes them human in the first place has been lost in the transition. The ruling council believes that salvation is nigh, but whether that hope arrives in time is questionable. The city's future depends upon the actions of a few individuals, all of whom are struggling with their own mortality. Quentin is the boy who dreams of death. Mia is the tortured soul. Trey is the soldier that defines duty. Misao is the future of the ruling council. Claire is the girl with a secret that will rock the foundations of their entire civilization. Unbeknownst to them, the entire fate of Akropolis lies in their hands. Either humanity will find a way to survive or it will sink slowly into the sea of extinction.

A gateway to a long-awaited, always-online virtual island (an 'Autonomous World' or 'Permaworld') has opened for those who've found a key. This includes Dan Harvester, a guy who lives in a run-down apartment with his cat and runs a gaming channel. He's almost done playing and testing VR games, but this one could be his final chance to - truly - level up. What can it promise to him, and all its very first 'pioneers'? 'Fountellion'...is said to be 'natural' game-world, a N.E.P. world (Naturally-Evolving PermaWorld) full of artificial life that mimics the laws of our own natural world, with its shaping force of evolution. The game promises to be more than an open-world survival experience, for there are seven 'Insights' scattered and every player can find their own path to them. How much will Dan be changed, by his own search? A game-within-a-game or a simulated homage to the natural world? A complete vision of a 'metaverse' design which overgrows or salvages addicted players? There is only one way to find out: Tune in and experience Dan's 'avalogs'. For only by completing them and the fragments from the development, may you too discover the vision and legacy of 'Fountellion'... Notes: Please be aware this is speculative sci-fi, and includes outlines for an actual game-world within the story. The project is also decentralised and open source.
