I was drawn back to experiencing a traditional faith more than anything else because of the vitality of ritual in this place. I had explored different forms of religious and spiritual beliefs, but I didn't feel as though I had entered a place like this where everyone worship a totem. I experienced a sense that I had long forgotten in my years away from my family-a feeling that was somewhat tribal and at home. I heard all of their voices- young and old enunciating Scriptures. But it wasn't just nostalgia. Those rhythms, sounds, images and smells return the story to me in unexpected ways-not just any other stories, but my story. Everytime I witness this rituals, I'm entering both. It gives me access to memories of my former life that might otherwise remain buried. All Rights Reserved
