Falling from a mile up feels like nothing. I had accepted my fate. I knew the blood filling the sky was mine. And I knew I was never going home. I heard nothing as I fell. it was almost peacefull. I felt no pain. I knew that I Lyra a fifteen year old angle was going to die on this sunny summer afternoon. Unlike in a movie where the sky would be dark and cloudy.

I was drowning. I knew that. I also knew that the hands around my throat, pushing me deeper into the river water was the cause. What I didn't know was who was drowning me and why. It hurt thinking. It hurt to do anything right now. But I still screamed under the cold water and pushed the hands away as hard as I could. It didn't have much effect. I fought and fought, but I was getting weaker, and colder. The pain was overbearing. I couldn't breathe. Something big and heavy slammed into my side and sent me flying backwards. Confusion washed over me while i was hurled into the air, bounced over the tree and onto the floor with a disgusting snapping sound.
