The dark and bloody rose takes place in Salem, MA in 1890 where we meet a vampire struggling to stay alive after getting stabbed with a wooden stake. The vampire's name is Virgil he is 120 years old, and he just got stabbed 30 minutes ago. Virgil sees a black rose that can heal him if he gets his blood on the rose he can. Virgil rushes over to the rose before collapsing, and our main character gets a droplet of blood on the rose, it works Virgil is healed. Virgil takes the bloody rose to his castle to keep it if he needs it again. Now it's the present day, and Virgil is still alive because nobody ever harmed Virgil again. Virgil is holding a field trip at his mansion for a group of teenagers for their American gothic project, and Sam is excited about the field trip because she loves vampires a lot.
