After a decade of reconstruction Flammin had gone through to become as powerful as those who destroyed her home, the Relic Queen Nike takes the former living paintbrush to complete the final stages of her training: flying. For a small moment, Flammin had an epiphany of Nike, the divine living trident and mentor who bonded with her throughout the rigors of her transformation into what she is now.




This short story is part of my worldbuilding xenofiction project, World of Relics. This project encompasses a world of living objects and relics that came to rise shortly after the Inversion Event, an event that killed both mortals and their gods, stole their souls, and remade them into living objects. Well, they started an art class, every wednesday they would help their students get better at painting. But soon enough, they found a new interest. Finger Painting. They loved how much control they had, they loved how easy it was to glide their finger against the canvas. One day, they accidentally spilt some blood onto their canvas. They tried to rub it away, but.. It felt good. Even better than paint. They loved the feeling of the blood against the canvas, rubbing into it and creating an amazing picture. How could they not like it? But they couldn't use it again, they could use a substitute. But the thing that truly ruined the world was the nuclear fallout. it rained down everywhere turning the world into a desolate wasteland deserts for miles and miles.
