Set in the late '80s Pacific Northwest, the story bridges the cultural differences between two young girls, Venisa Brooks and Jasmine Tremaine Hunter, from grade school until college. The girls' needs defy their cultural differences and they forge a friendship that has no boundaries until the young women they are becoming reveal more about their friendship than they ever imagined.

Warning: This is a 'first draft" of a book written when I was in 8th grade over 20 years ago. LOL. I'm posting it on Wattpad in its original version (with light-to-medium editing) for now, to get feedback before doing a full rewrite. With that said, there are cultural and personal matters addressed in a way that may or may not be politically correct today. But I plan to keep as much of my "original" writer voice for when this was written as possible. So please guard your mind and protect your peace.

Please like, comment and/or follow. I could use the encouragement. ;-)

Suddenly perfection isn't her only option. ***** Ella Volkov is a gifted music student, but she's depressed and starting to crack under the pressure of high school. Her overbearing father won't even let her choose what instrument she plays. Then she finds herself alone at a party with Ren, her best friend's crush. She'd always thought he was rude, but after that night he's all Ella can think about. Now she's trapped. If Ella dates Ren, it will ruin her friendship with Jenny. But if she stays true to Jenny, she's losing the one person who can see past her scars. It's up to Ella to decide if she will forge her own path, or stay in the "perfect" box designed for her...
