-Cross-post from my Ao3- The Aftermath at Mount Massive is part one of a three part series called Survivors. This part is done. It is a fanfic for the game Outlast, set after the first game/DLC. However, you don't have to know much about the game to jump in. This story follows an independent journalist named Miles Upshur who received an email from a whistleblower, Waylon Park, who worked at Murkoff Psychiatric Systems: Mount Massive. The hospital was supposed to be run as a charity, offering help to those who could not pay, or for those who other hospitals wouldn't accept. However, things weren't as they seemed and Murkoff was using the hospital as a cover for a laboratory where they were performing experiments on humans. The end result of such experiments was the creation of Project Walrider, a bio-nanite parasite that lives inside a human body. Miles stumbles into the facility during a security breach and riot. He manages to survive the night but in doing so becomes infected with the nanites, becoming the new host for Project Walrider. The Aftermath of Mount Massive is about Miles coming to terms with what being the Host means for both his humanity and future. Content Warning: This fic contains blood, gore, cannibalism, a suicide attempt, mild body horror, and language. If you are sensitive to any of those things I suggest not reading. This is the story about twin brothers Trevor and Travis, who live in a small town, and don't have many friends, but damn are they the perfect pair. They live alone in an apartment and are each 17 years old. While they are twin brothers and get along perfectly, they are very different. Trevor: he's very shy, and doesn't do well meeting new people, let alone attractive robots. While he doesn't do well with new people, he is always considerate of others, and tries to help as much as possible. It takes a lot to get him angry, and usually if he does, people think it's more adorable than scary. Travis: he's very outgoing and extroverted, and never gets nervous around people. He can meet a new person, and the situation is normally perfect. That being said, he's very protective of Trevor, and he can get angry very easily. If someone makes Trevor feel bad for only a second, Travis will start cussing and try threatening, even if Trevor accepts the apology of the one who made him feel bad. While they are likeable people when happy, they have never found love once in their lives, and even if they wanted to, they both know something will happen if they try. BUT they were both born with something special: multiple vocal cords, so many in fact, they can make any sound they want without even trying, and can even sound like an entire band is playing a song with just their mouths, which awakened their love for singing.
