Friendship begins with trust. Where does it end?

Wynter is a child of the Light, raised in an isolated cult in Arizona, abandoned by her mother, and left in the care of abusive women and a fragile older sister. When two spirited Australian boys arrive offering rock music on a secret radio and tales of the world outside, Wynter can't resist their friendship. A disused shed becomes their sanctuary, and for the first time she begins to wonder what it would be like to leave.

Dragged away from his perfect life of Aussie beaches, surfing and shoplifting, Xay loathes the desert where he's expected to farm all day and attend prayer meetings all night. One strange and magical girl makes it all bearable. As his buddy Roman's mental health deteriorates and Wynter refuses to explain her bruises, who can he turn to for help?

This is a prequel to the Wynter Wild series, which starts with book 1: Little Sister Song (Kindle Unlimited). (Sample chapters on Wattpad.)
