"Mama!" The little Predacon shouted, throwing their arms in the air before hugging the Prime's leg, snuggling against it.
"Uh..." Optimus dragged out, looking over at Ratchet with a nervous expression.
"Ratchet, a little help!" The Prime whispered.
"I don't know what to tell you, kid." Ratchet said.
Optimus looked back down at the Predacon sparkling, who is rubbing their head against his leg, their eyes filled with bright, joyous stars and a happy expression, and his was an expression of unsureness. "Um... sure?"

Without a Word-a TFP Ratchet Guardian Fanfic (Completed)
You all know Ratchet, the grumpy Autobot medic. You know he isn't exactly "on board" with humans around the base. Okay, Raf, Jack, and Miko could be an exception, and perhaps June Darby and Agent Fowler, if he was in one of his better moods, but if there was another human? No. No way. That would make him the guardian of said human. And he had much better things to do than babysit. Cassidy Weathers isn't one to talk, mainly because she can't. She was born mute. It doesn't stop her from making her voice be heard though, as long as she has her notebook and as long as her fingers aren't broken. She never thought the three kids she had met and become fast friends with, Jack, Raf, and Miko, had a secret that was bigger than a two-story building. Except for Jack's motorcycle, perhaps. It could be one and a half stories. So when these two meet, which aren't under the best of circumstances, they might start butting heads (or helms, or both, or-you get the idea). Or they can have a guardian/charge relationship that they slowly build up to, even when one of them will respond to the other without a word. Her fiery nature is a shield, one he could see through upon their first meeting. One he learns she has built around herself to protect herself from pain. As for the girl...there is more to this autobot leader than meets the eye. She slowly finds herself a new family to surround her with affection she has never had in her life. Story of a Sparkling-Transformers fanfic
An ambush. That was all there was to it. The Prime was alone at that time, launching his only sparkling off world to protect her. He was so close to losing her to the Decepticons, at least that was what he thought. He was left heavily damaged, leaking energon, for the other Autobots to find. The priority was not the Prime, but his sparkling. Their objective had been achieved, they did not need to do anything else. Optimus Prime was for their Lord and master to defeat, not them.
