Ashton Hartwell wouldn't say he was an ordinary teen. Sure, during the day he was an regular student in one of New York City's many public schools, but once night fell he was a crime-fighting vigilante. His best friend Casey Jones was a vigilante with him, and the two had helped their mutant friends, Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello, and Michelangelo save the city several times. He even took ninja training with April on occasions to get even better at crime fighting. 

So how the actual hell did he end up here?! Stranded in an alternate dimension away from his friends, Ashton will have to put all of his training to use to survive in the Boiling Isles, especially with all the trouble his new boss and her apprentice get into.

Donatello was kidnapped and was held somewhere. Leonardo was murdered on the field. Delilah Lawson still had her best friends, Dill and Athena, but was all that remained of the Lawson family. Her parents, Liz and Jamie, her younger brother, Marquis, and younger sister, Leslie, were all killed in the Foot Clan's bombing of their apartment building. Delilah knew that the turtles lost family, too, when Chief Vincent introduced her to them. The brothers knew that her parents and siblings were four of the civilians lost. They became friends then family out of tragedy and there was a lot they didn't know about each other. They all knew the hurt but didn't admit it after a while. They grew together anyways and realized things about themselves. Delilah, Raphael, Donatello, Michelangelo, Dill, and Athena were all children of tragedy. Emotions were high. That led to someone thinking one thing while another was true, and caused turmoil within the new band of misfits. If only they just talked...

So I just remember a man in armor and then nothing. Years later, I live in the shadows and watch over people in New York. Until one night, that all changed. I met a female about my age. I followed her to a subway where I saw the Foot Clan scaring people. I saw the girl. With a gun pointed right at her. Until I saw the lights turn off. I made my move. I got some Foot. And ran into four giant mutant turtles. Then, my life changed. I was gonna find the man who killed my parents and changed my life all that time ago.

A general rule of thumb for any type of story telling media is to not have more than five main characters. Often, these five are separated into categories, the leader, the smart one, the hothead, the Woman, and finally, the dumb one. While the others are given chances to express their talents and skills in carefully planned arcs, the dumb one is often neglected. No, the dumb one is meant to entertain, he makes a mistake and you are to laugh at it. He is not allowed to have a moment of realization, not given the chance to prove himself, not allowed to be more than the dumb one. A joke. The unwilling jester meant to make his blind peers look smarter, clever, at the expense of his pride and shame. Michelangelo, youngest ninja turtle, is Doing Just Fine. He means it. The teasing words of his brothers doesn't feel like scalding water against his skin, thank you very much. He Doesn't feel hurt when they brush him off as childish and immature, when they refuse to listen. And he Absolutely Does Not need any help because he doesn't have any problems. He doesn't feel bad. He doesn't really feel anything at all. Mikey can't exactly say there's anything wrong when he can't identify it, but how can he ignore his inner world falling to pieces and his mental health declining? Well, apparently the kid on the computer can relate to that.
