We heard footsteps sneaking at every corner and little giggles. It was as though the sisters at the end of the hallway were yet to put out their lantern. I wasn't always the type to take the lead and hold the lantern but no one else agreed to do it. " Madeline dear, I don't think it's the sisters." said Denise. " Are you trying to scare the fuck out of us?" Grace asked, breathing down my neck. " Sister, language. We will soon be taking our oaths. You need to stay clean of all curse words." Mary said as she held Priya's hand tighter. We couldn't sleep because of the noise. Although Mother warned us not to wander off the hallways when the lights were off but we couldn't help it. The more we ignored the noises, the louder it got. I could hear Priya's heavy breathing even as she was at the back. We were short on lanterns that's why she came along. She was the youngest amongst us so I do expect her to be scared, but we all were. It wasn't too long I saw a shadow pass inches away form my face leaving a breeze that tampered with the lantern's light and scary enough this hallway didn't have windows. Denise gasped. " Did you feel that?" She asked digging her fingers into Grace's back. " I think we all did. I think we should go back to our room." Mary suggested. I couldn't argue with her. After what happened to Sister Ann, I don't think the rumors about the so called evil demons are tales by night. I had just turned to my left and immediately I did the lantern went off. There was no breeze, no nothing. I couldn't afford to make a noise so I didn't drop the lantern out of fear. We held each other by the arm with our hearts beating fast. We were about to go back steadily when I saw the pair of red light. With every blink of an eye it seemed to come closer and when it finally reached my face, the lantern lit up.
