Atiqtalik is a thirteen-year-old Nunatsiarmiut girl with an immense love for polar bears, and a deep appreciation for the north: that ice-barren land she calls home. But her world is rapidly changing, with climate change making its mark on not only her homeland, but on her people, and the wild creatures she has grown up with and beside. Then, when tragedy befalls Yuka Kirima, her newest friend, she realizes that the only things holding together her broken world are friendship, and more importantly, love. But will these things be enough when tragedy strikes at her own heart?
