Alice Stone is a girl from a small town world who worked her way up to be the woman she is. She has joined a vigilante syndicate known more formally as "Baroque Works" underneath the mysterious boss, "Number 0." She works as an undercover agent for the organization, catching modern day pirate/criminal gangs and turning them in for a large sum of a bounty. Her work, which she believes is for the good, comes to a quick halt when she infiltrates a network of hotels going by the name of "Baratie" and meets a criminal that changes her life forever.
