As part of a confidential experiment created in the hopes of proving to an overpopulated world that life above land is possible, 435 young individuals have been specially selected to live in Caelum, a city hovering 1000 meters above the Atlantic Ocean.
Arden Cassidy is one of these individuals.
The primary reason she accepts the invitation lies in the city’s secrecy—she wants to find out why Caelum’s creators specifically selected her to participate in the experimental living trial.
But when connections to the continents are inexplicably cut, and seemingly “natural” disasters begin to threaten those living on land below, a girl named Breanne Nevitt recruits Arden and a small group of unlikely Caelum initiates to uncover the real purpose of the city’s existence, and do everything it takes to escape a cage disguised as a utopian society.

In doing so, they managed to sentence almost all of them to an untimely death that was almost inevitable. With the idea of freedom, Hailey knows that she is never safe and that if weaknesses are shown, someone will use them against her. Will she be able to overcome her emotional and mental walls, even if it means that she'd be vulnerable? Being on the ground will change Hailey in ways that the people on the ark would never expect. Centuries ago this was a great planet, now it's a husky shadow of its former beauty. Though the remnants of its former magic still linger it was destroyed by power hungry scientists. More tests to make more technology to go further, faster more this more that. Boom It all went up in flames, radiation spilled out into South America from the global power station in Brazil. The nuclear plant 15 times that of Chernobyl blew its top. The initial explosion flattened Brazil and the shockwaves were felt from the Florida keys. But the thing that truly ruined the world was the nuclear fallout. it rained down everywhere turning the world into a desolate wasteland deserts for miles and miles. Now you live in districts to survive, but what's the good in just being a number. Why would you look forward to a future of infant nothing, can you run from that? Where would you go? Where have the people who have escaped gone? Is that a future? What if there's someone who got left behind?
