Apocalypse-Genetic Manipulation.
It began with the good intentions of a passionate scientist. His goal was to create an evolution of human beings that were immune to hundreds of diseases that the average human are susceptible to. How he planned accomplish this was through Genetic Manipulation and the splicing of human DNA with animal DNA. His attempts were rewarded with failure in the form of mutated and incredibly dangerous creatures until finally he figured it out. the extra x chromosome of the female gender worked as a trigger-like bond between the animal and human traits. He hid the girls from his sponsors, the American government, causing them to lose their patience with the man's unproductive draining of their funds. They raided his facility, taking away the Chimeras, the Shifter girls, and the Scientist's life.All Rights Reserved

The females of the species stay in the same land they were born and as long as all their cubs are grown and able to flee or defend themselves they accept new males without much of a fight. Lion shifters live much like their wild cousins. Other cat shifters are a bit different with only wanting one mate as they are mostly solitary creatures save for their mate and cubs. After leaving his pride Spiros settles in his own territory without a pride and hopes that he will stumble upon who he would choose to be his mate. As his instincts guided him to the territory in which he settled. But maybe he does want a pride, but he wants it different from other lions.
