Teru Mikami hasn't lived a very easy life. When he was a child, his father cheated on his mother with another woman, and he took custody of his baby brother. Years later, Teru gets bullied for his views on justice, and his mother is killed in a car crash. More than ten years later, Teru is offered the power of Kira with the power of a Death Note that he uses to delete evil and to serve the man whom he believes to be God.

Meanwhile, a young man who shares the same last name as Teru travels back and forth from America to Japan. He has a strong sense of justice and wants to stop bullying as well. However, Kaito doesn't agree with the way of Kira.
