For generations the Crater family has fought a never ending war with an invisible enemy, a hidden world of malevolent spirits who prey on the weak and drain life from the living. Armed with the ability to see and manipulate the spirit world they have dedicated their lives to hunting down and destroying those who refuse to move on.
Eighteen months after running away from home 17 year old Farrell, the last of the Craters, returns to the town he left behind to bury his father, resolute in his decision not to take on his family's mantle. But when Ingrid, the girl he left behind, needs his help, he is torn between the life he wants for himself and the path his father laid out for him.
As his father's old friends and foes resurface he is thrown headlong into a world he barely understands with enemies that will stop at nothing to kill him. Farrell must figure out who he can trust, how to utilise his abilities and that at some point he has to stop running and face his demons.

For years she fought in the war of men. Cities burned, armies fell, and still the blood in her veins demanded more. But no power, not even hers, could shield her from loss. Three of her companions-those who had shared the same cursed experiment-were gone, their bodies left behind on the battlefield. She buried them in ash and flame, and with that, she could fight no longer. She turned her back on the church, on the endless slaughter, and wandered into lands untouched by war. The world is dying. Heaven and Hell have broken and collapsed, creating a post-apocalyptic landscape that is part purgatory, part platonic world of ideas, blighted by the horrors of the human mind. The sun lies dormant in the east, atop God's tower, while the west is plunged into darkness and haunted by all that lives there. There is no day and night cycle, nothing grows, nothing dies, nothing changes, unless magic is involved. Angels hunt creatures for their blood, to feed it to God so he can finish gestating. Demons kill and destroy aimlessly, their origins inexplicable and unknown. Stranger beings wander the ruins of what's left of the world. Humans need not eat or sleep, caught in a state between life and death. They cannot die or be born naturally, but they can be killed and they can be made. The few that survived with their sanity somewhat intact have locked themselves into warded cities, but their protections are feeble and often ineffective. The Order that united them is long gone, broken into factions known only by the sins for which they have fallen. The Houses that protected them are crumbling, falling into ruin as their members were culled down by angels and demons, as well as their own mad quest to save the world; the Pilgrimage, a vain attempt to steal into Eden and murder God himself. Soon, only the Scions will remain. Those that were left not due to merit, but because they were the last choice for being heroes. Those whose memories and minds are as damaged and eaten through as their world. Those who agreed to take on the mysterious Archons within their bodies and, through that contract, had ancient relics and rituals passed down to them. They converge onto a long forgotten neutral ground, trying to save themselves. A heroic journey through a nightmarish wonderland. A pilgrimage to God's tower, to make the world whole again. Nephilim, creatures of the Light, have been given the mission to fight against the demons of Darkness that bid humanity to do their will. Unfortunately, not all Nephilim want to accept this mission, favoring a mission entirely of their own. A secret society of Nephilim - human descendants of angels - operates at New City University. This secret society, the Five Minds, is made up of organized cohorts establishing each of their roles - the historians, the delegators, the advocates, the healers, and the perceivers - based on their angelic abilities. Together, these Nephilim serve the Light by fighting the demons of Darkness, otherwise known as fallen angels, by intervening when the demons coerce or possess humans into doing their will. While their operation has been straightforward for the past century, something is stirring in their quaint college town. Unprecedented violence is threatening everything they've worked for. The archangel named Gabriel explains why she has these dreams and why she must lead the fight against evil, but first she must confront her mother and grandmother. They turn her life upside when she finds out her family knew. A fight ensued, and she runs away and encounters the demons that wish to kill her. Gabriel rescues her, and the need to train her for a battle which her ancestors have fought for the side of good every one-hundred years. Throughout her ordeal she encounters creatures which want to kill her, and monster that accept her into their family. She finds love and comfort in the enemy's armies and fight her brother to save the world. Can she have the fortitude to save the world from total chaos, or does she save her love and allow the world to seep into darkness?Complete
