When Kagome Higurashi returned from the Feudal Era, she thought her life would return to normal, but she was wrong. Her mother's confession that the man Kagome knew as her father was not her biological father shocked Kagome. Kagome was not angry, but she did want to find him, but he was nowhere to be found; even with Sesshomaru's help, they couldn't find a trace of her elusive father, so Kagome was forced to give up and go on with her life.

On her way from college she was kidnapped on her way home from college by men in black tactical gear. To her amazement, she fought well until she was drugged. Kagome wakes up in a strange place with doctors swarming around her, performing various tests.

Her identity was confirmed, and the experiments began. Kagome was imprisoned for months until an unlikely hero saved her. Now, the duo were on the run. They decided to move to New Orleans, knowing it was the last place anyone would look for them.

Kagome and her companion lived an everyday life until one day, a dark-haired man in an elegant suit walked into the restaurant where Kagome was working. Kagome was instantly smitten with the handsome man.

Elijah Mikaelson never believed in love at first sight. He lived for a thousand years and never saw proof of its existence until he met Kagome Higurashi; Elijah knew he was done for. He knew that this girl was unique, and Elijah wanted nothing more than to have her by his side.
