Rayne has always experienced pain when it comes to her own mother, however, she never expected to find her mother dead in her own room either. Leaving Rayne completely and utterly alone with no one by her side, the State finds the only person who has any connection to Rayne. Justin Woods, her ex-stepfather from seven years ago, has agreed to take Rayne into his home in the Alaskan Mountains with her two ex-stepbrothers, Mason and Erik. Just shy of eighteen, Rayne has to find her way through her intense emotions with her new home and those welcoming her.

Justin was shocked when he found out about Quinn. How could she do something like that to her own daughter? Not knowing what else to do and remembering Rayne and how sweet she was, Justin couldn't help opening up his own home to her. It was what he wanted to do when he and Quinn first broke up, but she still wanted to use her daughter for her own needs and wants. Having this chance now, Justin swears to show Rayne how the real world works and give her enough support for what she needs to succeed, but he didn't account for his own feelings or his son's getting in the way. Will Justin and his sons be able to handle Rayne or when the times comes, will he send her away in the end?

The two tried to dampen the flames of their burgeoning attraction for each other but not before they got caught and were the talk of the town for months. After the fall out, Maddie moved away to try and start her life over and not be known as the girl who got caught doing it with her 'brother' at prom. She hasn't seen her family in ages and intends to keep things that way. Jacob, on the other hand, has worked hard to accomplish everything he's ever dreamed of. He's stayed close to home, done exceptionally well at school, and is adored by just about everyone who meets him. There's only one problem: There's a Maddie-shaped hole where his heart used to be. With her stepfather she inherited a depressed mother, new siblings and a reckless stepsister. With her stepsister, an abandoned baby nephew and a lifetime of responsibility... Responsibility has never frightened Sadie. For so long it's been all she's known, thrown into situations outside her control and forced to just find a way to make it work. But the kind of responsibility and obligation Sadie has had to endure in her young life isn't sustainable for anyone, let alone a vulnerable teenage girl just trying to keep her family safe; and the repressed memories and overwhelming darkness lingering always in the back of her mind grow more menacing by the day, begging to be seen and felt, and threatening to consume her altogether. Through enlisting the help of a therapist, Sadie realises her list of regrets is a lot more comprehensive than she first thought, and topping that list are two very different but equally important people - Ruben Foster and Camden Jones - neither of which she has seen in over a decade, but who she comes to learn will be key to her positively moving forward in life with her eleven-year-old nephew. But the process of trudging through their respective shared pasts is proving a lot more challenging than she anticipated...

Ryder Matthews fucked up and he knows it. 11 years ago, he left the love of his lie in some pre-college life freak out and when he returned 3 years later, she was gone. He threatened and stomped over to me. I stepped back and hit the wall. "If you think you'll try and get on my 'good side', think again!" He yelled with his face right in front of mine and slammed his fist against the wall. "Can't you just say thank you and leave it at that!" I yelled and shoved him away. Infuriated, he knocked down my dresser with a thump. I stared in shock as he stood there enraged. "Don't try me rat!"
