Imagine being bound to your biggest nightmares and fears. Fourteen-year-old Randy Matheson realizes something strange has been following him for a long time, hiding in his very own shadow and dreams. At first, he thought he might've gone crazy; after all, aren't imaginary 'friends' only for little kids? But this is different. This shadowy figure seems determined to communicate with him.

What does it want from him? Why him? Only heaven knows how he hasn't gone insane-yet. Now, it's time for Randy to uncover the name of this being and its true intentions.
