Police brutality refers to the use of excessive or unnecessary force by law enforcement officers when interacting with civilians, often resulting in injury or death. The victims of police brutality are often marginalized and forgotten by society, and their experiences may not receive the same level of attention or justice as those of more privileged individuals.

One group that has been disproportionately affected by police brutality is people of color. Studies have shown that people of color, particularly Black individuals, are more likely to be the victims of police violence and to experience harsher treatment by law enforcement.

Another group that has been disproportionately affected by police brutality is people with mental illness. These individuals may be more likely to be misunderstood or perceived as a threat by law enforcement, and may not receive the appropriate support or treatment during encounters with the police.

LGBTQ+ individuals, particularly transgender individuals, have also been victims of police brutality. They may face discrimination and bias from law enforcement and may be more likely to be targeted for harassment or violence.

It is important to recognize and remember the forgotten victims of police brutality and to work towards creating a justice system that treats all individuals fairly and with respect.
