Most children are told not to play with fire when they are young. Lyra is one of those children - not that she remembers it at all. She has no parents that she's aware of. For seven years, she's been living out on the streets, wandering, watching, and wondering. Wondering about her past and future. Not that she knows how her future will end up. She has no idea how she'll be transported to Osania, a far-away mystical land. Or how her best friend will be kidnapped. Or how she'll save the world - Osania and Earth both included. Or as she goes on the adventure of a lifetime.
