Alexandria Evergreen, a bored heiress to her dearest father's hotel empire with a penchant for justice on her own terms and too much time on her hands, lives a life of luxury and moral ambiguity. Behind her poised façade lies a dangerous secret: she quite enjoys seeing the life leave the eyes of abusive and perverted men - and the occasional woman - who believe themselves untouchable, operating in the shadows of high society. Clarke Griffin, a struggling law student in her final year, is barely holding her life together. Clarke has just landed an internship at a prestigious law firm, a position she fought hard for. Now all she wants is to graduate, pass the bar exam, and start building her career, following in the footsteps of her late father. From the moment Alexandria lays eyes on a stunning Clarke, she's obsessed. What could possibly go wrong when one is morally grey at best, entirely unhinged and a walking red flag at worst and the other embodies everything Alexandria isn't - pure, principled, and committed to the legal system? I'll be putting trigger warnings below, and I will add to the list as new potential triggers become relevant in the story. Always feel free to let me know if I have missed any. TW: Strong language, blood and gore, murder, sexual content, mature themes, violence, mentions of abuse (of all kinds), sexism, torture, mention of drugs, mention of suicide, absolute toxic, obsessive, and unhinged behavior.

"Welcome to the circus, are you a spectator, or a lion?" When Maggie Parker is offered a place at Vidre Grammar, located in New York, a school for the children of high society's rich and powerful elite with the security to match, she sees it as a chance to escape her tragic past in Melbourne. Its only when she arrives and is ambushed by spoilt rich kids with their own social hierarchy she realizes that she needs to stay on her toes. Just when she thinks she's over the worst of it, a memory from her past shows up, with a shadowy childhood and secrets of his own. But there's something the boy isn't telling her, so its up to Maggie to fix his mistakes, potentially stopping a national crisis in the process. What she thought was going to be a typical "new girl" story becomes anything but, forcing her to decide whether to spectate from the sidelines, or become a lion, putting her life on the line, once again, for those she loves. Priorities change from surviving the school year, to surviving the next twelve hours. But hey, the show must go wrong! Reminding her that no matter how far you run, you can't escape your past, not for long anyway. and sometimes, perhaps memories can be people. So, is Maggie a lion or a spectator? And can she save the circus before it's too late? (Trailer on part 22: "Learn your place." Cover by @offhanded You silent readers are gonna be the death of me)
