Each of the above are just four of many reasons why people become warlocks. Whether it is to settle a score or to gain leverage, the outcome is always the same. They change, turning over their immortal soul in exchange for something better. Usually that involves a better life, or wealth. Whichever comes first.
For the tales of these five women, their reasons, while different, end up much the same. However, their motivations differ throughout each story.
