In a London café in the summer of 1914, James and Darien sit in silence. The world is about to burst into flames and change the course of history forever. Because they are both eighteen years old, they are certain they will be sent to the front and perhaps forever separated from each other.
So before that happens, Darien proposes to James and together they make a promise that if the world splits their joined souls apart, they will meet again here in the same café after the war is over.
