This is a fictional story of a young girl, Zainab, who must confront her buried childhood trauma as she's raising her own two daughters. She is the eldest daughter of a refugee family from Afghanistan who's grown up in New York City. Zainab's narcisistic and abusive stepfather is adamant about raising his family the traditional way even in the middle of a metropolitan city. She lives in the middle of two different, opposing cultures as she navigates adulthood.
