The Ring

I knock twice before I hear Charlie instruct me to come in. I know I'm in deep shit, but what's the worse Charlie will do to me? Have me thrown in prison? No. Killed? He couldn't even if he tried. Possibly assign me overseas? Maybe. As I consider all the possibilities of my punishment, I enter his office to find him sitting at his desk. A pleased expression is written across his face, just before he gestures to the chairs across his desk. "Please. Take a seat." I look over to find that one of the chairs is already occupied with an all too-familiar person. What the hell is that tall asshole doing here? What's his name- something Jones. He must be just as confused as I am, because the same bewildered expression is plastered across his face as I can imagine is on mine. I sit down anyway as I anticipate what Charlie has to say. "Now, as the both of you know, The Mamba's assignment is a very important case. We all know the incident that went down not too long ago." Charlie eyes at me, as I cross my arms and roll my eyes leaning back in my seat. "And I know that the both of you are top of your class in the entire agency." I hear the stupid asshole next to me scoff and I turn to glare at him. "So, that is why I have made the excellent decision to have the both of you take on this mission." I look at Charlie confused as to what he means. "I'm sorry sir, but how would that exactly work?" Jones asks. Charlie shakes his head as if it was the most obvious thing in the world. "I'm assigning Melanie unto to your team."
