"By the Hells, Astarion," Tav complained. "You muddle my wits. I believe you missed your own calling to be a sorcerer." He offered a hand, hoping to bring their strange interaction to a close.

Seizing the hand Tav offered to him by the wrist, Astarion swung to his feet lightly, laughing. "It's good to know that even your hardened heart isn't immune to my considerable charms. Tell me, was merely the allure of my body that pleased you so?" He smiled meaningfully, tightening his grip on Tav's wrist as he stepped closer. "Or perhaps, darling Tav, is our dear leader the kinkier type? Was it the rope on my hands or the knife to my throat that awakened the dragon?"

Tav was watching him with wide, wild eyes, breathing hard and fast again. "I... Astarion, forgive me, I meant no offense-" The vampire moved even closer and the sentence squeaked to a premature end. Tav swallowed hard and tried again. "Merely the friction of the horse and your body against mine, Astarion, truly." His eyes begged the other man to believe him. "I apologize most sincerely for any offense caused."

Astarion smiled back at him with eyes like a shark scenting blood in the water. "My dear sorcerer, how much do you know of vampire spawn such as myself?"

Asterria has entered an era of renewal following the battle at Durga's How, but its sense of peace cannot be shared by those who heard the dire warning given by the gods. Although ten months have passed, Morana and Tarion still believe that Astaroth could return and are determined to be ready to face him this time. But their people have other priorities which threaten to upend their lives once more. Division is spreading between the people who are pushing for Tarion and Morana to be crowned Asterria's new King and Queen, and those who believe their purpose has been served. They are caught in the rippling tides of change, and with the future hidden from even those who once wrote it, there is no telling where that change will lead. As the tension grows, Morana is becoming more afraid that they won't be prepared to face the new threats emerging, and of what will happen if her worst fears are realized. Only one Heir of Hadeon will remain standing at the end of it all: an immortal God-spawn, or the mortal Phoenix. Can Morana fulfill her destiny and the sacrifices demanded by it to destroy Astaroth once and for all, or will the world be lost in flames? Warning: This book, while being a work of fiction, still deals with real and mature elements. There will be chapters dealing with abuse, gore, PTSD, sexual content, and other topics which some might find triggering. After saving the city and getting rid of the tadpole, Talin, a skilled storm sorceress who was born and grew up in a privilege, comes home to Baldur's Gate, where strict expectations of the city's upper class and the pressure of her noble responsibilities await her. She made strong connections during her journey and found love amidst the chaos. But at home, she and Astarion have to face not only bias against creatures of the night but also the expectations placed upon Talin. As they dig into Astarion's past and search for a cure for his vampiric affliction, they have to figure out how much they're willing to risk for a chance at a life together in a society where going against the norm could be disastrous. Hi there! This is my first fanfiction and I've never written anything like this, but I love this game and I love fantasy and RPGs so I wanted to try this out and started writing for myself. I really enjoyed writing it, so I decided to share it and I hope you'll enjoy it too. If you do, feel free to drop a comment :) I'm doing my best to stay true to the Forgotten Realms lore, but I might miss a few things here and there. Disclaimer: I want to make it clear that I don't own any of the Baldur's Gate 3 characters. They belong to their creators. But Talin and any other original characters you meet here are my own. Note: Some chapters reveal moments from the game, so be careful if you don't want any spoilers.
