Calois Greenway used to be an assassin known as the Thousand-Yard Arrow, but now he lives day to day as a hunter. His quiet and monotonous life is disturbed one day by two women, one of which claims to be Marina von Alschwert, the princess of the Kingdom of Alschwert.
Marina knows about Calois's past and wants him to work for her as a bodyguard. As it turns out, she's on the run, and she needs to get out of the kingdom before assassins can take her life. Calois takes the job, but it may end up being more troublesome than he realizes...
