Greetings, readers!
This book is currently undergoing revision, so if you see a bunch of notifications for this book, or if you remember something that isn't there anymore, that's probably why. However, I plan on writing new chapters as well, so be sure to check!

It's not easy being the new kid.

Autumn Bolk knows the feeling well. She's been "the new kid" about five million-gazillion times by now, thanks to her dad being re-stationed about every two years.
It's pretty much the same every time:
- pack up (only the important stuff!)
- move houses
- find a church
- settle in (comfy)
- find a friend (or two)
- leave again (try to keep in touch)

Number five million-gazillion and one shouldn't be any different. Right?

Wrong.

What if, this time, her friends are more than just contacts on her phone list? What if her church family really feels like family?

What if she doesn't want to leave this time?

"I love how this book is turning out!😍 Not cliche at all!" - i_hatecliche "We might live next door to each other," Haley said, "but we don't live in the same world." Hooking her fingers around her backpack straps, she walked away from Jace. She had barely gone a few steps before he was at her side again. "What makes you believe we don't live in the same world?" he asked. "As far as I can tell, we do." "No, we don't. I'm...me and you're Jace Cortez. The dream of every girl. The friend to every guy. The star of the school. Girls. Sports. You're the ultimate player." "It sounds like you have a preconceived notion of who I am." "And it's one that has yet to be proven wrong." From books and a lifetime of sitting on the sidelines, Haley is convinced she knows how the world works, specifically high school. Everyone has a label and a box they fit in. This knowledge, paired with parents who are fighting, a brother leaving soon for college and a best friend who moved away has made her decide to never get involved. It will take being forced to work with her fellow juniors on a project, a boy next door with a infectious smile, a star gazer with an adorable puppy, and an unlikely pair of fangirls to make her see how truly wrong she was about everything. "IT'S NOT CLICHÉ!!!" - Moria987 "This is the reason y I keep coming back to this book...It's simply a breathtaking journey" - mariyamsajorawala "I don't usually comment but this is one of the best books I've read here. I love the fact that it's realistic and focuses on things that really hinder human interaction, perceptions and stereotypes." - yurfavegal "just gets better and better. How are all your characters 3D! Like this writing is so beautiful" - CrazyStarChick "Reading it for the second time, and the book still brings a smile to my face 😆" - grumpymood "She's practically Carter's twin 😂😂" - Guardian_21 #1 Breakingcliches #1 Arrogant #6 in Teen Romance

All's fair in love and babysitting. • • • Shailene Avery is hated by one person, and one person only: Brayden Ferguson Fields. Saturated in sarcasm and edgy teenage angst, Brayden is the one person Shailene cannot understand, like, or even pretend to get along with. And no matter how nice she is to him at their frequent neighbourly get-togethers, or as they stand awkwardly at the bus stop in the mornings, or during the countless nights of having to babysit their younger siblings together ("because double date night" is the lacklustre reason given by her parents), she still cannot get through to him. Because he hates her. And that is that. Brayden Fields has 99 problems, and his pain-in-the-ass neighbour is one of them. Shailene Rose Avery is loved by everyone for reasons Brayden can't even try to understand. Her incessant chattering and fruitless attempts at friendship give him a migraine, and he only ever talks to her when he absolutely has to. Honestly, if he had to choose between being poisoned by anthrax or spending an entire day with her - well, let's just say he'd have a hard time deciding. They avoid each other as much as possible, because - let's be honest - it's better that way. But what happens when they don't get a say? What happens when fate decides to throw them together over and over again? What happens when they learn there's more to a book than just the cover? | does this have a plot??? who even knows. also idk why it says completed April 2020, I finished this book in 2017 lol | highest rank - #107 babysit #75 thirdperson

"Hermia is a heck of a character I love" "The kitchen scene is so hilarious. This story is amazing!" ~LYh203126 "I love your dialogues. Imagining this feels so good!" ~MadeenahJunaid "God, the cliffhangers. . . It makes me wonder what lies ahead in the next page. Well written" ~HappyEndingWriter Teaser: I went into a frenzy when the curtain was drawn apart and there stood the boy next door with his eyes closed and hands outstretched. But he wasn't just there. He was stark shirtless! My eyes slowly widened and I could feel my own heart beat frantically against my chest ribs. If anyone told me the nerd had perfect eight pack abs and flexed muscles, I'd disagree but here it was, mocking me right in the face. Sweats trickled their way down his belly lines and his torso was rising in a sync. What happens when the tomboy starts to have girl like feelings she ought not to and always condemned? But what seems like a normal highschool story boy falls in love with girl and changes for her might not be it. Instead of the girl to change the boy, the boy is changing the girl. It all started with an hockey match and a misunderstood identity. ©2022 #5 in YARomance (July 25, 2022) #25 in nerdy (May 7, 2025) #11 in nerdy (July 12, 2025) #33 in hiddengems July 16, 2025) #57 in undiscovered (July 16, 2025) 100 reads- July 19 200 reads- July 26 300 reads- July 31 400 reads- August 2 500 reads- August 7 600 reads- August 11 *time jump* ----- Cover designed and edited by @StarDaisyxxx21 All images which will be used to represent characters herein do not belong to me.
