This is a retelling of the story of Tuor and the fall of the legendary Elven city of Gondolin. It is based on the original 1918 version by J.R.R. Tolkien himself, but updated as much as possible thanks to additional material from both Unfinished Tales (the later Tuor) and The History of Middle-earth series. I must also admit to interpolating my own narrative additions, where definitive source material was lacking, in an effort to round out the story and make it more entertaining for modern audiences. Finally, it is a self-contained story. That is, you don't have to know anything about the world of Middle-earth in order to read and enjoy it. No infringement intended or implied. The Odyssey of the daughter of the forest
In the dark forest of Mirkwood, shadows are growing, again and again. The leaves are becoming black, as the roots, and as the trees. Birds are not singing anymore. Flowers have disappeared. Even the sun has trouble to light the ground of the forest, once so alive and full of colours. A young elf with red hair is fighting every day for her people, who is retreating before its enemy, who is sending his troups from his black tower, in the south of Middle Earth. Orcs are coming, more and more numerous on their lands. The company of Thorin Oakenshield from the Blue Mountains will not succes to put an end to this invasion. Their fight will just postpone the deadline, by sacrifying many lives, and destroying many others. And by seperating for a while the path of two lovers, who are destined to meet again. Sixty years later, the elf joins the fellowship to save Middle Earth, once and for all, from the threat that are gliding above its people, for a long time.
