Valerie is a young, special girl, sent from the waters. She was found in a pond as a baby, early in the morning, floating on a pile of lilacs. No one knew how that was even possible; a baby, sleeping safe and sound, on a pile of lilacs? Surely is was just some hallucination or vision, but no, it was real.
Valerie cannot hear, nor speak. She is also very lonely. No one wants to talk to her; they think she's possessed by some spirit, so they keep their distance. Since she has no friends to be with, she goes off to the pond she was found in and plays there, by herself. But everything changes when she finds a wonderful place and a girl who is as as special as her.
