Vera needs no one, but after a fiery accident that displaces her, she must rely on the son of a rich man to save her home. Feeling responsible for the accident, Ted, the heir to a great fortune, promises to help her if she ensures his safe return home to his family and the woman he plans to propose to. The two must keep their promises to each other despite being perfect strangers. On their journey, Ted and Vera unravel more about each other than planned.
