When I woke up the sun was starting to rise witch meant I had to go hunting with Gale. Past District 12 there was a forest were me and Gale went hunting. It was forbidden but that's were me and Gale got stuff like squrriels, rabbits,basil and strawberries. Then we would trade some food for bread and spices. My daddy was a Miner. I was the "hunter" because my daddy was blown up in a mine. Prim is my little sister .When I went with Prim to go look at expensive cakes the bakers son tried sneaking me a loaf of bread. Then the baker slapped her son with a fish. A few months later I entered me and Prim in the raffle .Then we went to see would get to be in the hunger games. When they announced the girl one Effie Trinket said Primrose Everdeen. Then I thought one slip out of thousands? Before Prim reached the stage I walked of the isle and said "I will take my sister's place".Then I sat down on the stage. Then Effie Trinket said "Peeta Elmark". I was like oh crap.

Every one know the story of how my older sister, Katniss Everdeen, the girl on fire, and her fellow tribute, Peeta Mellark, won The Hunger Games. This is my story, when I, Primrose Everdeen, was picked to compete in the 76th Hunger Games. ~~~~ I was reaped once, for the 74th annual Hunger Game. I was 12, my first year being entered. My sister promised me nothing would go wrong, even gave me a mockingjay pin to protect me. We both went to the reaping, and my name was pulled. Let me just say, the odds were not in my favor. Katniss volunteered. I screamed and begged her not to go, but she did, for me. She protected me. Like the mockingjay pin, she was my mockingjay. It;s been five years since then, I’m 17 now. I’ve learned how to throw knives, hunt and climb trees, in fear of being reaped. Sure enough, the day of reaping comes around and I’m reaped. We know her story. But have you ever wondered what it was like on the home front, in District 12? This story is Gale's, his outlook on the games, his feelings about his best friend's situation, and his interactions with the people of District 12. The story is set during the time period of "The Hunger Games" (book one of the trilogy). It is written from the perspective of Gale Hawthorne, and does not concern any events in books two and three. This is my first fan fiction, my first "real" attempt at long form prose writing, and my first Wattpad story. I appreciate constructive feedback, but please, no hate. While the characters and some plot points are based off of Suzanne Collins's Hunger Games Trilogy, (which I in no way own the rights to) I have created this story using my own imagination. Not too long ago I found out about a thing called the Hunger Games, I was shocked to find out that my parents were a part of it but I can't blame them, my parents are awesome! My siblings don't really care about it, they find it cool that their mum and dad are famous but they mainly care about the fact they don't have to go in it. I on the other hand am nothing but curious, there is something more to it, something big that I haven't learnt yet, I mean there is only supposed to be one winner but both my parents came out of that arena, something had to happen and I'm going to find out, no matter the cost. Join Iris on her journey of finding out that her parents went in the dreaded arena twice and her mum becoming the Mockingjay. What will she think of her parents when she does find out? Will she be glad that Mockingjay has done her job and her mums pin remain an object of the past, or will she want to continue her mum's legacy and place that pin on herself? This story is based off a mini plot twist, but otherwise this is just an After Mockingjay story. The plot twist is basically that Katniss didn't kiss Peeta when they were in the Capitol during the Rebellion, and how it would effect Peeta's recovering, since that is obviously taking it a step back. --- Katniss is broken, tortured, and she has lost almost everyone she ever took a second to care about. When I was eleven. My whole world changed. Katniss' dad died in a mining accident. You think it wouldn't affect me but I loved him just as much as Katniss did. Maybe even more than I loved my own father. I felt bad, that my own dad couldn't compare to Katniss'. He loved me too though. Loved me like his own. The day he died was the first in a long line of times I have ever seen Katniss cry. She never cried before then but she cried a lot after. Katniss' mother was suppose to get a job after his passing, she didn't. They were starving, dying. I decided to help. After school I would drag Katniss into the woods by her feet. We'd never gone in there without her father. It seemed like a scarier place without him. After some time it wasn't so scary. I don't know what made me volunteer for Katniss. When I heard her name echo throughout the crowd my heart stopped. It wasn't my name, but it was my best friends. There was no way she could survive in there.
