Percy has been training for years to get into a military establishment, not to protect others from the threat outside, but also the threat inside.
Enveryone knows Gabe would drag the third kingdom through the dirt to fuel his greed and prince Percy plans to do everything in his power to stop him inheriting the throne. But what of the looming threat past the border?
It's no secret that king Ares has an extensive military force which he has heavily exploited to force bargains and even going as far as to assassinate all three royal children of the second kingdom!
The possibility of war hangs in the balance. Percy needs to act, but how? And with what army?

Annabeth is part of the Chases, the family that runs one of the departments of the Magistrates. Annabeth's father, Frederick, runs this department. It takes care of all petty crimes. Percy is the Chase's houseboy, a boy who serves the family with what they need. Annabeth is walking through town one day when she sees Percy steal some bread. She watches him get caught but Percy gets off with a warning. Annabeth walks by and when the merchant isn't looking she steals some bread and cheese. She goes after Percy to give him the food so he wouldn't go hungry. He takes the food and flees but becomes a wanted criminal since it is his second offence. Witnesses say they saw Percy take the food. Meanwhile, Annabeth is also stuck in an arranged marriage with the son of the other head of the Magistrates but is falling for the boy who stole the bread when she starts meeting up with him during the night. One day, Annabeth is sitting in on one of her father's court sessions and Percy is brought in, beaten bloody.
